Sponsored ResNet UCInetIDs

Students living in Grad, Palo Verde, or Verano Place, who have a lease for an entire apartment, and have family members living with them can sponsor up to two non-student occupants for ResNet Network Access.

Sponored ResNet UCInetIDs are intended to enable authentication for access to the Internet via the residential housing network on campus. Access to other UCI online e-resources is not provided.

  • Authorized residents, living in the graduate + Family housing areas specified above, may use the link below to request UCInetIDs for up to two family members/other occupants.
  • Apply for a Sponsored ResNet UCInetID (Sponsor Login Required)
    The Sponsor will need to enter the name and date of birth of the person sponsored.

Sponsored ResNet UCInetID Creation Process

  • Authorized residents may sponsor up to two additional family members/other occupants for Sponsored ResNet UCInetIDs.
  • OIT will review requests for Sponsored ResNet UCInetIDs within one to three business days.
  • Once approved, the ResNet Sponsor will be notified via e-mail of the UCInetID and Sponsored ID number that have been assigned. At that point, the UCInetID will be ready for activation.
  • The UCInetID and Sponsored ID number are important, and are required to activate the Sponsored ResNet UCInetID.

UCInetID Activation

  • The Sponsored ResNet UCInetID must be activated before it can be used. The activation process allows the person to whom it is assigned, to set a private password.
  • The Sponsored ID number is required to activate the UCInetID.

As a member of the UCI and worldwide electronic community, all UCInetID holders are required to adhere to UCI's Computer Use Policy. Activating one's UCInetID signifies acceptance of this policy.

» Quarterly Sponsor Renewal Process

ResNet UCInetIDs are sponsored on a quarterly basis, for a maximum of 4 quarters at a time.

Renewal Notification

  • Approximately one month before the end of each quarter, sponsors will receive an e-mail message as a reminder to renew Sponsored ResNet UCInetIDs.
  • The sponsor must review the UCInetIDs he or she is responsible for and renew the sponsorship for up to four additional quarters at a time.
  • Failure to renew will result in the UCInetID being de-activated.
