Telephone Feature Comparison

Summary: The following chart compares the differences between the Cisco IP telephones and our current Ericsson phone system.

Function keys Uses "soft keys" to perform functions such as answering an incoming call, call divert, hold, group pick up, redial and transfer. "Soft keys" are keys that change in nature depending on the state the phone is in. Uses pre programmed buttons and key pad sequences to perform functions such as call divert, hold, group pick up, redial and transfer.
Dialing with speaker phone or hands free headset Enter digits on key pad, then press the "Dial" soft key to initiate the call. Enter digits on keypad. Call is initiated automatically.
Sending additional digits. Example, when connecting to an automated attendant or entering call back number when paging. Once connected to called number, enter additional digits. From Ericsson multi-line sets, once connected to called number, press the "tone" button or "9", then enter additional digits.
Ring character when an receiving an incoming call On campus incoming call from IP phone, single ring. On campus incoming call from Ericsson phone, double ring. Off campus incoming call, double ring. On campus incoming call from Ericsson phone, single ring. On campus incoming call from IP phone, double ring. Off campus incoming call, double ring.
Receiving a diverted call A call diverted from a Cisco phone to an Ericsson phone, or visa versa, is not identified as a diverted call on the display of the phone receiving the call. A call diverted from an Ericsson phone to an Ericsson phone is identified as a diverted call on the display on the phone receiving the call.
Pre-set call diversion The number of rings before an unanswered call will be diverted can be set in the system software based on individual user preference. The number of rings remains constant regardless of missed calls. The number of rings before an unanswered call is diverted can be set based on individual user preference using personal profile feature . Once a call is missed, subsequent calls will divert after only 2 rings.
Call divert all calls, no ring Press the "CFwdALL" soft key and enter the number that calls are to be diverted to. Press the "Call Divert" button.
Call divert an incoming call while the call is ringing Press the "IDivert" soft key. Press the "Call Divert" button.
Call divert to voice mail Press the "CFwdALL" soft key, then press the voice mail access button. Press the call divert button if preset answer point is voice mail or enter *2*48989#.
Message waiting light Message waiting light does not turn off immediately after reviewing messages and exiting the voice mail system. Message waiting light turns off immediately after reviewing messages and exiting the voice mail system.
Music on hold Has music on hold feature. Does not have music on hold feature.
Unsupported Features The following features are not supported between a Cisco phone and an Ericsson phone: Directed Pick-up, Group Hunt, Group Pick-up, MDN (line appearing on multiple telephone sets). The following features are supported between an Ericsson phone and an Ericsson phone: Directed Pick-up, Group Hunt, Group Pick-up, MDN (line appearing on multiple telephone sets).
