InfoMail becomes Voicemail!
OIT has implemented a new Voicemail system that closely emulates the old InfoMail system command menus. We expect that current users will find the new system familiar and easy to navigate. However, there are differences that are detailed in the following document:
In the new Voicemail system, you will start with a “clean” mailbox. New and/or saved messages will not be moved to the new system. However, you will be able to access the old InfoMail system by calling 4-0009 for a period of 1 month after the cutover. After that time, the mailboxes and messages will be deleted.
The cutover to the new Voicemail system was completed on Monday, January 25, 2010.
The New User Tutorial will guide you through changing your passcode, recording your name and recording your personal greeting.
Please listen carefully to the prompts, as there are differences in the menu options.
- Beginning Monday, January 25, 2010 dial 4-8989 to access the new Voicemail system.
- When prompted for your passcode, enter the default passcode: 654123 followed by #.
- If you are calling from a telephone number other than your own extension, press * and follow the prompts.
- Complete your mailbox set up by following instructions in the new user tutorial
- You are required to change your passcode. Your passcode must be from 5 to 10 digits in length, but cannot be or include your 5 digit extension number.
- Record your name.
- Record your personal greeting.
- We recommend that you record a spoken name and a personal greeting, but you may bypass these recording steps in the tutorial by pressing the * key. If you do not record a spoken name, the default spoken name may be inaccurate, inappropriate, or sound unprofessional. If you do not record a greeting, the system will play the standard greeting."
- Note: In the new Voicemail system callers will press “0” to transfer to an attendant, as opposed to “0, 3” in the InfoMail system.
- Select an attendant if you wish to use this feature.
