Updating Your Phonebook Entry (PhUpdate)
Summary: PhUpdate is
a utility to update some parts of your entry in the UCI Electronic Directory.
Login with your UCInetID and password to subscribe to the printed campus & medical center telephone directory, to view and edit your record, make any
changes to fields where updates are allowed and press the Submit Change
Request button. You will get a confirmation that your update was successful
and you will see your updated listing.
UCI Electronic Phonebook Overview
PH (PHWWW) is the interface
to the UCI Electronic Directory database of University faculty, staff, and
students. The database contains all the information in the UCI Electronic Directory along with other information. This database
is maintained by Office of Information Technology.
PH Field Descriptions
- alias
- This is your UCInetID. UCInetIDs are used to authenticate users for various
services on UCInet. To change your UCInetID go to http://www.nacs.uci.edu/ucinetid/change-policy.html.
- name
- Your name entered as First MI. LAST.
If the information is incorrect,
contact your department's Human Resource representative to update your official
name in the Payroll/Personnel System. To find out who that person is, login
into PhUpdate and look for the text "To update EMPLOYEE fields that you cannot
change using this page, please contact the person in your department who
is authorized to update the phonebook." There willl be a link to the person
in your department who make the changes for you.
- nickname
- Your nickname. Nicknames are searched by default when people query the
UCI Electronic Phonebook. If you have declared a nickname, it is used on
the "From:" line of email messages that are sent through UCInet's
Mail Transfer Agents (MTA.SERVICE.UCI.EDU).
- email
- Your electronic mail final delivery address. This is not your @UCI.EDU
address but the address where you read your mail, your email delivery point.
For example, if you use OIT Mailbox Services, your "email" field
would be jsmith@es.nacs.uci.edu (replace jsmith with your own UCInetID).
- email_address
- Electronic mail address that is in the UCI Electronic Directory. For most people this is YourUCInetID@uci.edu.
This field cannot be changed directly; it is generated automatically each
night based on the value of your "rewrite" field.
- phone
- Your office telephone number. To change this field, contact your department's
authorized directory coordinator who will make the change electronically.
- emergency_cell
- This is the number of your text-enabled cell phone where emergency notifications from campus officials will be sent.
This does NOT appear through online queries.
- fax_number
- Your FAX number. To change this field, contact your department's
authorized directory coordinator who will make the change electronically.
- department
- Your home department. This field is updated automatically from the Payroll/Personnel
System. If the information is incorrect, contact your department's Human
Resources representative to update your home department code in the Payroll/Personnel
System.
- title and title2
- Your "working" title or titles. To change these fields, contact
your department's authorized directory coordinator who will make the change
electronically.
- department_code
- Your home department "code." This field is updated automatically
from the Payroll/Personnel System. If the information is incorrect, contact your department's
Human Resources representative to update your home department code in the
Payroll/Personnel System.
- mailcode
- Your University Zot code, the "4" part of zip+4. To update this
field, you can go to Mail Services Update Employee Zotcode or you can contact your
department's authorized directory coordinator who will make the change electronically.
- hours
- Your office hours.
- project
- Your current project(s). This field appears only in the UCI Electronic
Phonebook, not in the printed directory.
- ext
- Th last four and five digits of your phone number. This field is automatically
generated for the value in the field "phone" once
a night; it cannot be changed directly.
- office_address
and office_address2
- Your office address or addresses. To change these fields, contact
your department's authorized directory coordinator who will make the change
electronically.
- other_Info
- Anything else you'd like people to know. This field appears only
in the UCI Electronic Phonebook, not in the printed directory.
- student_address
- Your home address (for students only). To update this field contact the
Registrar.
- major
- Your major (for students only). To update this field contact the Registrar.
- last_first_name
- Your name entered as LAST, First MI. This field is automatically generated
from the "name" field.
- printed
- This field is "1" if you are printed in the UCI Campus and Medical
Center Directory, "0" if your listing is not printed. This field
cannot be changed.
- rewrite
- If this field is "1", the "From" line in your mail
messages will be rewritten to your UCInetID@uci.edu. If it is "0",
your "From" line will be the same as your "email" field.
This field also controls what displays in the "email
address" field. The default value is "1" To change this
field contact Postmaster@uci.edu.
- picture_url
- The URL of your picture. This field appears only in the UCI Electronic
Phonebook, not in the printed directory.
- home_page_url
- The URL of your home page. This field appears only in the UCI Electronic
Phonebook, not in the printed directory.
- callsign
- Your HAM radio callsign. This field appears only in the UCI Electronic
Phonebook, not in the printed directory.
