Web Hosting Services

Summary: OIT provides fee-based UNIX and Windows web hosting and server co-location to UCI affiliated groups.

UNIX Web Hosting

Based on the LAMP stack, OIT UNIX web servers offer the combination of Linux, Apache, MySQL, Perl, PHP, and Python. Subscribers are given 1 GB of storage space and shell access to the web server via SSH to setup content for their website. OIT provides server maintenance, system administration, filesystem backups, and web server configuration. Additional services will be offered either as a standard hourly rate or a flat monthly charge depending on the nature of the services being requested.

Microsoft Windows Web Hosting

OIT also offers the standard Microsoft web suite of IIS and ASP on a Windows Server. Additional services will be offered either as a standard hourly rate or a flat monthly charge depending on the nature of the services being requested.

Web Development

OIT provides website design and assistance for UCI groups and individuals looking to create their own web presence or update an existing website. An initial consultation will be needed to define the scope of the work and to provide a estimate of the time required to complete the project.

Web Server Co-location

OIT can host web servers in the OIT machine room for clients requiring their own dedicated servers. The OIT machine room is climate controlled, locked, and features video surveillance and conditioned power backed by UPS. Detailed information is available at:
