xhost & xauth

xhost security is much less effective than xauth security. xhost + is especially dangerous. When xhost + is used (and to a lesser extent, xhost in general), it is very easy for someone to see what you have on your screen, or peek at your keystrokes - including passwords you type.

Please fill in the following information and click "submit" to get more detailed information about xauth and xhost.

What is the name of the machine you are sitting in front of (EG, acsxt-01.acs.uci.edu)?

What host did you xdm into (EG newport.ece.uci.edu - you might have selected this host in a chooser, or you might not have. This is the host that gave you a graphical login screen. If you did not xdm into anything, leave this line blank.)?

What host do you want to display a window from (EG malibu.ece.uci.edu)?

    What shell do you use?
