Getting a Web server running
- Servers can be run on almost any UNIX workstation, Mac or PC that's connected to the network.
- Servers usually are, but don't have to be run by the system administrator on a UNIX host.
(so a user can run their own if they need to)
- The source code and precompiled executables for many different servers are
available at CERN httpd Document.
- If you're a student at UCI, NACS offers free accounts on our "Electronic Access" systems
which are running servers through a student run project called
AntWeb.
- Technical advice is available from NACS to departments and workgroups that want to put up their
own web server.
- NCSA HTTP server is available in NACS' DCSLIB software library for all supported platforms.
