Clients and Servers
To publish information you need to run a
web server,
and to read information you need to run a
web client.
The clients and the servers are connected to each other by the Internet.
The W3 protocols and other standard protocols allow clients to
communicate with the servers.
Web servers (or "HTTP servers") are programs that
listen for requests for data on the network and send information
back. For this seminar, we'll use the local computer to create
our documents.
This can be done in the following way:
- "Simpletext" is the text editor
- Save files in: Desktop, Hard Drive, tmp-save here
- Use Netscape's following options to view and save a file
- "File--Open"
- "Reload"
- "File--Save As"
