Updated: August 12, 2003

  • VPN Client Software Information
If you need to connect to UCInet from off campus, Virtual Private Network (VPN) may be the solution for you. VPN allows you to connect as if you were on campus and encrypts the information you are sending over the network.
  • Special Port Blockades Updated: 07/31/2003
NetBIOS and other ports used by Microsoft Windows were blocked on November 5, 2002. If you wish to use file or print sharing on the Microsoft Windows platforms from off-campus, please read the information provided.
  • Secure Shell (ssh)
Secure shell (ssh) is an encrypted alternative to telnet and remote shell (rsh), wherein each packet is encrypted from the source to the destination. Using SSH insures that your data packets are only readable by you and the computer to which you are connecting.
