Removing the UCI Proxy Server on a Windows PC

Summary: If you have been using the Web Proxy Server, use the directions below to remove the settings from your browser. You should be using VPN in place of the Proxy to access UCI restricted resources. See "Related Information".

Netscape Navigator 7.0

  1. From the Edit menu, choose Preferences.
  2. In the Preferences Window, click on the triangle next to Advanced to display the Advanced Options.
  3. Select Proxies under Advanced.
  4. In the Proxies window, select the Direct connection to the Internet radio button.
  5. Click OK.

Internet Explorer 5.x/6.0

Dial up Connection

  1. From the Tools Menu, choose Internet Options.
  2. Select the tab labeled Connections.
  3. If you are using a Modem to dial in, locate the large open area labeled Dial-up Settings.
  4. Choose your dial-up connection and click on the Settings button to the right.

Internet Options Window on IE 5/6

  1. In the settings window (see below), select the checkbox for Automatically detect settings.
  2. Click OK.

Local Area Network - Use these setting with a Cable Modem or DSL connection

  1. Go to the Tools Menu
  2. Select Internet Options
  3. Select the Connections tab
  4. Select Lan Settings
  5. Make sure the box for Automatically detect settings IS checked
  6. Click OK
  7. Click on OK on the Internet Options menu
  8. Quit, then restart Internet Explorer

  1. Under the File menu, choose Preferences.

Opera Proxy Settings

  1. Click on the Network section.
  2. Select Proxy Servers.
  3. Uncheck Use Automatic Configuration Script.
  4. Click OK.
