iPhone and iPod Touch Wi-Fi Registration

Summary: iPhones and iPod Touch devices can join Wi-Fi networks at home, at work, on campus, or Wi-Fi hotspots around the world. Use the directions below to register your iPhone or iPod Touch to use UCInet Mobile Access.

1. Express Registration

In select locations on campus, simply open Safari on your iPhone or iPod Touch and connect to any Web page. You will be directed to our new registration process.

2. Manual Registration

Before connecting to UCInet Mobile Access you will need to register your iPhone or iPod Touch's MAC address (Wi-Fi Address).

  1. From the Home menu, tap on Settings.

  2. Scroll down and tap on General

  4. Scroll down to Wi-Fi Address and write down the address.

  5. On a computer connected to the Internet, go to http://www.nacs.uci.edu/mobile/registration.html and click on Register to Use Mobile Access
  6. Login with your UCInetID and Password
  7. Under Manage Your MAC Addresses, click the Add Mac Address button.
  8. In the MAC Address field, type in the Wi-Fi Address of your iPhone
  9. In the Comments section, you may type in "My iPhone" or something to describe this device. This is optional, but helpful in the future to differentiate the devices you have registered.
  10. Logout when you are done.
  11. The registration process takes 10 - 15 minutes to complete. When your iPhone is registered, you will automatically see the UCI Wi-Fi network available on your iPhone.
WiFi

When iPhone is connected to a Wi-Fi network, the Wi-Fi icon in the status bar at the top of the screen shows the connection strength. The more bars you see, the stronger the connection.
