UCInet Mobile Access Help

Summary: Having trouble getting your connection working? Use the troubleshooting tips below or call for help (949) 824-2222.

Troubleshooting Tips

If you cannot connect after registering your MAC (hardware) address, try the following tips to get connected. You may also call our Help Desk at (949) 824-2222.

1. Incorrect MAC Address

The most common reason that people cannot connect is registering an incorrect MAC address. We only allow registered MAC addresses to access the network on campus. If you registered your MAC address manually, double check to make sure you entered the correct one. A simple typo can prevent you from connecting.

Find Your MAC Address

We now offer Express Registration in select locations. Express registration automatically detects your MAC address and registers it for you.

2. Make Sure You Are Using DHCP in your TCP/IP Properties

UCInet Mobile Access needs to assign you an IP Address when you connect. For this to work correctly, you need to use DHCP (Dynamic Host Control Protocol) in your network settings.

Windows XP

  1. Close all applications
  2. Click Start and select Control Panel (See Figure 1)
