Anti-virus software - General Advice / Standards

Summary: With new viruses being released every day, it's wise to install and update anti-virus software on your computer. There are several effective anti-virus programs on the market. Which one to use is largely a matter of departmental preference. Because each department has different hardware and software configurations, no one product is best in all situations.

McAfee ° Virex for Macintosh In use by various departments. Contact your Computing Support Coordinator to find out if this is a standard for you.

Purchased via agreement between UC System wide and Network Associates. Individual purchases must be made at retail.

Symantec ° Norton Anti-virus
(various versions for Windows and Macintosh)
In use by various departments. Contact your Computing Support Coordinator to find out if this is a standard for you. Purchase from SHI in quantities of ten or more through UC bulk license agreement.
Trend Micro ° ScanMail for Exchange
° OfficeScan Corporate    Edition

ScanMail for Exchange is popular among those departments using Microsoft Exchange. Contact your Computing Support Coordinator to find out if this is a standard for you.  
Microsoft °Forefront Security Suite

Included with the "Enterprise Desktop" for those units participating in the Microsoft Annual leasing agreement known locally as "UC-MCCA".
