Student Assistant – OIT Help Desk Salary $10.00 per hour
Summary: OIT is seeking a student assistant to work approximately 15 hours/week including hours on our Help Desk Monday through Friday and in our 24-hour Data Center on weekends.
Applicants must be registered as full-time or half-time UCI students.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required:
- Demonstrated reliability to make scheduled work shifts
- Friendly attitude and the desire to help people
- Computer experience, especially with Windows machines
- Ability to maintain a positive team attitude and demonstrate professional behavior
- Trouble shooting and problem solving abilities
- Ability to work with little direct supervision
- Must have flexible hours including 8-hour weekend shifts
- Experience configuring and using e-mail clients
- Experience using common software packages including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Web browsers
- Experience troubleshooting wireless networking connections
Following are Desired:
- Previous Customer Service work experience
- Experience using Macintosh
- Experience using campus telephone system
- Experience writing technical documentation
- Knowledge of UNIX commands
- Familiarity with tools such as FTP, SSH, etc.
Position description
Under general supervision, answer phones and help walk-ins with OIT services including computing, network, and telephone, including Campus Operator duties Help students in computer labs with questions; maintain equipment Monitor the 24-hour OIT Data Center, including 8-hour weekend shifts.
