Summary:
The Office of Information Technology (OIT) provides telephone, network, and computing services in support of research, administration, and UCI's Electronic Educational Environment. OIT provides central computing services, computer laboratories, departmental support services, and campus-wide technical coordination.
Under direct supervision, incumbent provides general clerical support to the OIT Business Office. The successful candidate will enjoy working in an office environment and be available to work 15-20 hrs. per week around their class schedule.
Applicants must be registered as full-time or half-time undergraduate UCI students.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required:
Must be a UCI registered, undergraduate student; Strong organizational skills; fast and accurate typing/keyboarding skills; experience using an IBM PC and various software packages including Excel, Word, databases, electronic mail, and internet navigators; ability to maintain strict confidentiality; good written and verbal communication skills; ability to prioritize assignments given from multiple sources and complete them by their appropriate deadlines; ability to work with numerous interruptions and stay focused on the task at hand; ability to pay attention to detail in all aspects of the job; cash handling experience a plus; reliable; good attendance; ability to maintain a positive team attitude and demonstrate professional behavior. Workstudy award during the academic year is preferred but not required to be considered. Final candidate is subject to a background check.
Position Description:
Duties include but are not limited to: assisting with supply inventory and ordering; assist in maintaining the storage room; a high volume of filing; accurate data entry; photocopying of documents and manuals; sorting/distributing mail and posting notices; delivering documents to various campus departments; assisting with equipment inventory; distributing reports; assist in maintaining payroll and general ledger records; assist in distributing timesheets, assist with new hire paperwork, assist in organizing and maintaining confidential personnel and recruitment files; assist in preparing various correspondence for the Business Office, updating internal forms, as well as other duties and special projects as assigned.
