Editing with GNU Emacs
This chapter describes the Unix version of GNU Emacs. In addition to
GNU Emacs, a "smaller" version called MicroGNUEmacs (or "mg") is also
available. Versions of Emacs also exist for various microcomputers. Of
course, "mg" and the microcomputer versions don't have as many features
as GNU Emacs, but they operate similarly.
Another editor is available called "vi".
It has been available on Unix systems longer than Emacs, but GNU
Emacs is gaining in popularity. You may want to use "vi" if your
colleagues already use "vi". If you have a choice, however, learning
GNU Emacs is recommended.
