Handheld Devices
Summary: Handheld devices are becoming more popular allowing people to connect to their calendars, email and the Internet in one small device. OIT offers limited support for these devices and the services we provide. We will continue to investigate the more popular devices and add instructions where available.
iPhone and iPod Touch
Apple's iPhone has a built in email client and Web browser allowing you to send and receive email and surf the Internet via AT&T's EDGE, 3G network or a Wi-Fi connection.

OIT Exchange Service

Calendar Support
iPhone currently has no method for synchronizing events between Oracle calendar and the handset. There are a few methods to copy your Oracle Calendar data to your iPhone.
Treo
Palm Inc.'s Treo smartphones run both the Palm Operating System or Windows Mobile. With data packages from wireless providers, Treos may check email and surf the Internet via the wireless networks.

Oracle Calendar Sync synchronizes your Oracle Calendar data with your Palm Treo using Palm Desktop for Window or Macintosh or with Microsoft ActiveSync for Windows Mobile Treos.- Desktop Calendar Sync

Oracle Mobile Data Sync delivers remote synchronization of data stored in Oracle Collaboration Suite, including Calendar events, tasks and contacts, with any devices that supports the SyncML data language. Support for SyncML data varies among manufacturers and devices. Please review Oracle's documentation for additional information on individual devices.
Other Devices
We will be adding information on Treos running Windows Mobile and Blackberry devices in the near future as funding allows us to evaluate and document these devices.
