Treo VersaMail

Summary: Palm Treo devices come with the VersaMail email application. Use the directions below to configure VersaMail to send and receive email on OIT MailBox Services.

Setting Up An Email Account on Your Treo Using VersaMail

You will need to be connected to the Internet to complete this configuration.

Although VersaMail supports POP, we recommend using IMAP. POP works best when you only check email from one computer or device.

1. Tap the Versamail application to open it.
2. Press the Menu button and go to the top of the screen and tap Accounts > Account Setup
3. Choose New…
4. In the Account Name field, type in an account name of your choice such as UCI.
5. Under Mail Service select Other.
6. In the Protocol list, select IMAP.
7. Tap Next.
8. In the Username field type your UCInetID.
9. In the Password field, type your UCInetID password.
10. Tap Next.
11. In the E-mail Address field, type your UCI email address.
12. In the Incoming Mail Server field, type imap.uci.edu
13. In the Outgoing Mail Server field, type smtp.uci.edu and tap Next
14. Tap the Advanced button.
15. In the Incoming Server Settings window, change the Port Number to 993
16. Check the Use Secure Connection (SSL) box.  Tap Next.
17. In the Outgoing Server Settings window, change the Port Number to 587 .
18. Check the Use Secure Connection (SSL) box.
19. Check the Use authentication (ESMTP) box.
20. Your UCInetID should already be filled in under the Username field. Type in your UCInetID password in the Password field.
21. Tap Done.
22. You will now return to the main Versamail screen.
23. Tap Get and to transfer your mail to your Treo.
