Getting Started with E-mail
Students
Summary: All students have a
UCI e-mail address based on UCInetID (e.g. if your UCInetID were "anteater" your
UCI e-mail address would be "anteater@uci.edu".) Use this
address for official communication with the University.
- You control where e-mail sent to your UCI address is delivered
- If you do nothing, your UCI e-mail will be delivered to a UCI Google Apps Gmail account
- To set your UCI Google Apps password please visit here.
- Among your options for e-mail delivery are:
- UCI Google Apps Gmail account
- You may have your UCI e-mail sent to an alternate e-mail account
You may set or change your delivery point
at any time. Your choice of delivery point will affect the ways you can access your UCI e-mail.

How to check your UCI Google Apps Gmail
- Via the website Gmail.uci.edu
Check your e-mail using your favorite web browser by visiting Gmail.uci.edu.

Delivery options for your UCI E-mail
- UCI Gmail (Default)
This is where your UCI e-mail is delivered by default.

- Send my UCI e-mail to a another e-mail account
You may opt to send your UCI e-mail to another e-mail account, including a personal account. However, OIT recommends you
use the UCI Gmail account. If you choose to use a another account,
it is best to configure that account to send mail citing your @uci.edu address in the "From:" line
when communicating with your instructors, TAs, and for other University business.
