Summary: Email accounts on the faculty,
staff and student servers now have one disk quota for both Inbox and Home Directory. Information on these quota limits, how to check your quota,
and how to purchase more quota space can be found below.
Check Quota

Buy More Home Directory Storage
Additional storage
is available via a recharge purchase. The cost is
$5 per month per 100 MB. Currently only faculty and
staff with a recharge number may purchase additional
disk space. Students who have departmental sponsorship
and a recharge number may also use the form to request
additional disk space.
Tips for Staying Under
Quota
- Check your quota often.
Use My Email
Options to check your quota. (Login is required.)
- Sort your folders.
When you get messages in your Inbox,
sort them into other folders to clear room for
new messages in your Inbox.
- Empty your "trash" folder.
Email that has been deleted may still be stored
in your "trash" folder.
Check this folder periodically and empty the trash.
Note, this will remove these messages permanently.
- Empty your "spam" folder.
If
you have setup a spam folder, check this folder
for spam and delete the messages. If you use
Webmail you may need to subscribe to the folder
by clicking on "Folders" located
at the top page links and then under Unsubscribe/Subscribe
subscribe to the new spam folder. You can sign
up for automatic "Spam
Filtering" by using My
Email Options.
- It isn't the quantity of messages you delete, but the quality.
Messages with large attachments and pictures takes
up the most room. Save attachments to your computer
or a CD if you can and then delete the message.
